BreakthroughT1D and Mattel have partnered to launch the FIRST EVER Barbie® doll with type 1 diabetes!

From our family and customers within the diabetes community we thankyou! It's not hard to recognise the thought and care behind the creation of this doll. From her devices to the colour of her outfit they've worked hard alongside Breakthrough T1D to accurately portray this invisible disease. 

From Breakthrough T1D:

'The doll wears a CGM on her arm to help manage her T1D. To keep her CGM in place, she has heart-shaped medical tape—Barbie pink, of course—along with a phone that displays a CGM app to help track her blood-sugar levels throughout the day.

Attached at her waist, Barbie has an insulin pump: a small, wearable medical device that allows for automated insulin dosing as she needs it. 

Barbie wears a stylish polka dot top and matching skirt with ruffles. Both the color blue and circle print are a nod to the global symbols that represent diabetes awareness.

Barbie comes with a pastel blue purse, perfect to carry any essentials, such as type 1 diabetes supplies or snacks, when she’s on the go.' 

...Now that is why we love this news! Every part of this launch has truly put the community first. They've also created two one-of-a-kind Barbie dolls for role models and type 1 diabetes advocates, Robin Arzón and Lila Moss.
